Marathon Water Station Tip
posted 1 year agoA helpful trick I learned during the Waterfront Marathon. If you want to keep your rythem while still gracefully ingest liquids at hydration stations this is what I’ve learned works best. Pinching the lip of the cup making the cup opening a thin slit makes it easier to drink the cups contents while running. Doing this prevents gulping mouth fulls of water/gatorade; instead you are able to take small sips. The benefits of this is it prevents your drink from splashing out of the cup and onto you and it prevents you from drinking liquid too quickly which often results in stomach cramps.

good advice from my friend karen, who has run the nyc marathon 3 or 4 times
posted 2 years agoremember not to look down at your watch to stop your time at the marathon finish. look refreshed as a daisy for the pictures. and try to finish under the clock with no other runners blocking you. the finish picture is totally worth it.
