Ottawa Race Weekend

posted 1 year ago

Ottawa Race Weekend

This past weekend was Ottawa Race Weekend; a weekend filled with running and the Great Glebe Garage Sale.

I finished the Ottawa Marathon with a time of 3;46 which was an improvement from my previous time in Seattle. It was not my goal time, but it’s an improvement. As well it seems that they did not take any good photos of me during the race this weekend however I was extremely excited the whole way through the run. The whole 26.2 miles were a blast and I enjoyed every inch. At the finish they were also engraving the medals at the finish.

Not only did I get to run the Ottawa Marathon I got to hang out with some good friends in Ottawa as well and attend the Great Glebe Garage Sale! (Where I managed to pick up a byrd & belle laptop case for $5!)

Last Long Run Before Ottawa

posted 2 years ago

This morning I got out for one last long run before the Ottawa Marathon. I wasn’t pushing myself and did a 16miler. Also, after about a year of having a GARMIN Forerunner I finally installed the program to log my runs. It’s pretty amazing. As seen below for this run. If anyone is in the Scarborough area and wants to take a look/run some of my routes I have an account with MapMyRun and this route can be seen here. I don’t use their iPhone app for training but I use it to keep a more accurate and shareable route with others.

I am getting excited for Ottawa next weekend!!

Ultra’s - A Worth While Adventure?

posted 2 years ago

Who’s run an ultra before? Is it worth doing? Was it harder/easier than you thought it would be? Any different training than a marathon other than ‘running farther’? Would you do another? I’m seriously considering them.

The Ottawa Marathon

posted 2 years ago

Well, its mid. Feb. and what can I say I have kind of calmed down on the running as the days were shortened and it was fairly miserable to go for a run by the time I got home from work these past months. I have still been trying to get out for at least one decent run a week which I have been doing fairly consistently if I haven’t been snowboarding. Anyways yesterday I got out for a good 10 mile run which I haven’t done in a while. It was much slower than I could have done the middle of November but I still had a ton of energy when I was finished. It was great! Also the reason for a bit slower was that I got my dad our for it as well. He is a casual runner so usually nothing over 6 miles. This 10 mile run was actually the furthest he has ever run in his life. He’s in his early 50’s too! I’m so proud of him!

Anyways I have registered for the Ottawa Marathon which is May 30th. Its over 3 months away and I am already overly excited!! Hopefully I can beat my previous time in Seattle. I am know I CAN!

I’m also considering doing the P2A (Paris to Ancaster, a 60km) bike race mid. April. Gotta see how my cycling training works out. Should I do it again?

A video commemorating Terry Fox’s cross Canada run to raise funds for cancer research using Stan Rogers’ song Turnaround.

I am currently reading a biography on Terry Fox and this video is great commentary on this live, goal and achievements! Such an inspiration person.

Some Seattle Marathon pix of me running. My time was 3h53 which was not my goal pace, but apparently still respectable I am kept being told as I trained for only 2 months and this was my first marathon. Thanks to my coach Peter Glassford for all his help and guidance through the process. Already planning the next marathon. Both Toronto marathons and The NYC Marathon are a definite YES!
